School is back in session and the focus of Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center is college readiness for graduates and their families. Come out and support our boys' and girls' basketball at Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center. The next game for the girls will be Monday, November 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Sequoia, 1460 S. Horne St, Mesa AZ 85204. The next game for the boys is Tuesday, November 29, at 4:00 p.m. at the Tempe YMCA, 7070 S Rural Rd., Tempe AZ 85283. Schedules for both teams will be posted very soon on our website. All students, families and friends are invited on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.to Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center's Thanksgiving Celebration. There will be a delicious Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings and desserts provided by the staff. You and your family will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the TAHS family and enjoy this time of thanks. Please come and enjoy the evening with us. Congratulations to Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center's newly elected Key Club officers. President is Mayra Rivera; vice president is Ashley Wong; secretary/treasurer is Mele Kafoa. The Key Club is presently working with a local food bank to prepare boxes of food for the upcoming holiday season. AIMS tests are being given Tuesday (writing), Wednesday (reading) and Thursday (math), October 25, 26 and 27 at Tempe Accelerated High School and Vocational Training Center. Juniors and seniors who have not passed a subject will test and sophomores will take AIMS practice tests. A copy of the Arizona "High School Student Guide to AIMS" is available to pick up in the school office to help in preparing for these tests. This has been a useful tool for parents in the past. A student guide and other study resources are also available on line at http://www.ade.az.gov/AIMS/students.asp. Ms. Trump will be leading Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center students on Saturday, October 29, in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The Making Strides event is not a race but a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love. Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center is planning the grand opening of the Tiny Titans Daycare for October 31, 2011. This will be a FREE daycare for the children of students that attend Tempe Accelerated High School & Vocational Training Center. The times will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Children must be age six weeks to kindergarten. A birth certificate and immunization records will be required and the parent student must be in good standing with TAHS. Tempe Accelerated High School and Vocational Training Center is hosting a Fiesta Night Wednesday, September 21, from 5-7 p.m. This will be a night of fun for the whole family. There will be FREE Mexican food, games, contests, ice cream, door prize drawings and more. Come meet the TAHS teachers and sign up for FREE state tutoring programs available to all students.
