Attendance
Attendance and academic success are highly correlated; therefore Tempe Accelerated High School promotes good attendance practices. Students are expected to attend school everyday in order to receive course credit. If a student accrues ten consecutive unexcused absences in all classes, he or she will be withdrawn from the school. If a student is withdrawn from the school he or she may re-enroll, if space permits, and continue his or her education. Additionally, if a student misses the first 3 days of a new block he/she is dropped from his/her scheduled classes but can be re-scheduled to different classes/class schedule upon re-enrollment, if space permits.
Absences
If an illness or emergency occurs that keeps the student from attending school, the parent/guardian must contact the school daily and explain the reason for missing classes. When the student returns, he/she is responsible for completing all work . Tempe Accelerated High School recommends that the student have no absences in a block. Students accruing 5 absences in a class will not be able to earn credit for that class. Students may continue to attend the class in order to earn an ‘audit’ (NG) instead of an ‘F’ so as not to have the course counted against their GPA. If a student stops attending the class, they will lose the audit option and receive the grade of an ‘F’.
Tardy Policy
If you are tardy you need to sign in to the office and receive a pass in order to be admitted to class. Positive incentives are in place for all students who make it to class on time. Additionally, students are required to make up their tardy time in order to receive a passing grade in their class. Students who do NOT make up their tardy time will receive the grade of “F”.
